2022 resolution

As 2021 ends, yearly habit of self-reflection kicks in. I was reflecting my thoughts of how I “should be” doing something to change the world! With the amount of understanding of myself or of human mind, I can notice that this is just another habit that kicks in because I am used to thinking this way in the past 37 years.

What I should be doing instead?

It is my passion to express this message that we all should completely throw away this concept of resolution. I will go into the aspect of Why in a min.

Live every second: We should be instead embracing living in the moment, bringing awareness into the present or current thing we are doing. It can be making a simple cup of coffee, the joy in making it, aroma, heat, texture of utensils we use, the boiling of water, steam coming form the water, holding the mug, sipping the coffee.. There are so many so called “data-points” that we can be observing. Instead, we are training ourselves to drink coffee to get the caffeine effect so we can abuse our spirits even more.

Perceive other life: We have trained ourselves to work off of an agenda or a to-do list that we overlook the importance of perception. It is delicate, sensitive, slow, it requires observation not just a list of “how to do it”. Being a parent, it has made me very aware and to re-learn and instill these behaviors in my son who is driven (just like all of us) to win and succeed in life.

Slow Down: The more I pay attention and adopt this, the more joy it gives me inside. Why slowing down is important? For someone like me who thinks or sees in a holistic way, it is hard to zoom into a concept on the get-go. I need time because I am seeing things holistically. Society may not like this because we have set ourselves up for a fast paced environment. There is constant battle going on inside because that may not be who we genuinely are. We can train ourselves to become something, because humans are very trainable (better than dogs), but are we “that” what we train ourselves? Slowing down, has really helped me to get in touch with myself. When I get in touch with it, it builds compassion to see others the same way and avoid conflict.

Why throw away concept of resolution?

Resolution, according to my experience comes in chunks. It is not sustainable. After the energy wears down, I am lost. I do not know what to do next, so I become angry, frustrated, sad, and think I am good for nothing. Even thought there is nothing wrong with me to being with, I decided to take this jolly ride of resolution every year and hurt myself even more. When I am hurt, I am vulnerable and I an use that for distracting myself with pleasures. I have put myself in a vicious cycle. Now, I am not really seeing the change I ought to see but it is the opposite of what is suppose to happen.

If you read this, and resonate with any go deeper and ask yourself why. I do not need any engagement with this post, I am not really trying to make money here. I am thankful for you for taking time to read. Happy another year 2022!! Remember, it is just a number, we can get in touch with our own new moment any second we want.
